Ok so with so many things happening it is important to do a getaway. Can there be a better near by place to enjoy the rains than Lonavala? This is no rhetorical question.
A little ahead of Lonavala lies a hideaway which Team RaA have sworn not to reveal.
It’s this beautiful piece of green surrounding this fantastic lake. And just when I thought it couldn’t get any prettier it starts raining. Lunch, Uno and Jenga blend well with the rain.
Post lunch, our cricket gear is out and Shailesh is in smashing form. What shots! Kiran plays keeper. Ahmed and I take our turns batting and bowling. Kruti chooses to enjoy the ipod in the rains. The setting couldn’t be better.
Now one thing with cricket and RaA is that everyone gets crazy competitive. The Flash specialist (Shailesh), the PHP guru (Kiran), the Flex lord (Ahmed), the Marketing kid (Rohan) – all get wild.
In comes to bat the Marketing kid and what an innings he plays. 22 runs. All beautiful shots. Next in is Mr. Flash – a respectable innings of 16 runs. Dint do justice to his current form though. PHP comes in with two left legs. Gets bowled on 2 or maybe some more change.
So Marketing is leading. And his arch rival Flex is more determined than he has ever been. Even more determined than he was to meet the Melange deadline.
Not a word is spoken. – 1,4, 8,9, 10 runs…Marketing gets the ball..11, 13, 14 runs…16, 18, ..it’s getting close..19..its getting personal..20, 21..This is it. Marketing is trying all his tricks (he doesn’t have many). He comes running in and at the last moment changes his bowling side.Ball hits rock. Flex cant believe it. Marketing can. Exults. What a feeling. What a game.
We gear up for another game but Kruti’s dad has deadlines. We wouldn’t have left for anything but that’s more a phrase than a commitment.
Have another round of chai. Drive back home. Shailesh tells us stories about his first love and how he would write her name all over his study books.
Thus ends a beautiful day. We all take the oath of not revealing the name of the hideaway.
